Rio Grande do Sul e depois-Deyvity

We have passed through a variety of climates, regions and airpots in the last few days. After leaving Vitoria we made our way from Brasilia to Goiania, a very brief stop in Cuiabá, on to Campo Grande and now our latest port of call Palmas. Today is a blissful 37oC thank god. I might be English but 10oC and drizzling all over doesn't do it for me. What I was most impressed with in our last few concerts were the theatres. In Brazilia we played in a really difficult neighbourhood but SESC have built a huge concert hall and community arts centre there. We were the first orchestra to play there. I reckon that less than 10% of the public have seen an orchestra before letalone heard one. The mission of SESC is a clear one and I felt proud to be able to be part of this units development. The production staff have really done a good job so far and creating audiences is no easy business.
Our concert in Goiania was a show case for delivery drivers as the instruments finally turned up 45 minutes after the start of the concert. Nevertheless it was a corker and we pulled off a great concert even after being diverted tonUberlandia on the way due to fog. There are so many people learning instruments there and I for one hope that things recover there soon politically.
Cuiabá was very brief and for me was a chance to embrace the family and convince my dog that I hadn't disappeared off the face of the planet. I have never felt so sad to leave my family so the concert for me was not the best but I feel far more positive now knowing that we are closer to home each day we play. Tonight is Palmas, nice city, beautiful beaches and 37oC of pure sunshine, just the way it should be.
