Serra (Deivide)

Yesterday was a tuffy. Not a lot to be said in terms of tiredness but in terms of scenery it was a special one! I really enjoyed our brief time in Lages, 2 days are a valuable asset to your sanity when living out of a suitcase. Our arrival in Tuberao was not the best thought out in logistical terms and the road back to Gravizal was a tough one o swallow but we made it and the public were extremely receptive even when the tired stares of the musicians were refelected in our music making. I was epecially impressed with Alexandre who mangaged to pull it out of the bag and play his ciranda flawlessly.

The most impressive part of the day was the descent of the "Rio do Rastro" which along side the "road of death" in Bolivia has to be one of the most nail biting 30 minutes of road anywhere in the world. Reversing a bus around steep corners was a real challenge even for our experienced bus driver. I decided that the upward journey looked more dangerous than our downhill journey though and thank god we weren't in a lorry! Anyway, I'm a little better rested today, the cold is on its way out and the throat lozenges worked a treat. Onwards and upwards as they say.
